Our Ecobank Academy

Once you join Ecobank we will ensure you continue to develop professionally thanks to our talent management programme. Here you will receive the best training and guidance at our Ecobank Academy, one of the largest capability development centres in Africa. It aims to enhance Africa’s banking sector through the development of professional and leadership skills, as well as assisting Africa’s sustainable financial integration and economic growth.

The Academy develops world-class managers and leaders for Ecobank and also provides management development and skills capability training to external organisations such as the Global Fund and IFRC the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

Learning and growth

The bank devotes up to 5% of payroll cost to training and development opportunities. A key strategic intent and indicator for training and development is that all staff must receive at least an average of 40 hours of training and coaching every year.

Performance-based compensation

Over 90% of the bank’s senior managers and country heads were developed internally through a structured process that identifies, develops, advances, and retains current and future leaders.

Leadership programmes offer project and secondment assignments, job shadowing, coaching and seminars. Ecobank supports human capital development in Africa through graduate and internship opportunities. In 2007 over 850 undergraduates had the opportunity to see first hand what it is like to work in Ecobank. Lasting from 3 to 12 months, our internships offer the interns a chance to prepare for the future of working in Africa.

Diversity and inclusion are an integral part of the bank’s culture and strategy. Ecobank, by virtue of its geographical spread, is one of the most diversified groups in Africa in terms of its people. Ecobank also has a policy of ensuring diversity in its employee talent pool without compromising the quality of its staff. Regular reports are presented and monitored to ensure adherence to policy. Ecobank employees come from different nationalities of which 29 nationalities are from Africa.

We communicate in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese as well as local languages. The workforce is 44% female and the management team is 31% female.
